About 200 people attended the opening ceremony of a unit of Agroecological Production Integrated and Sustainable (PAIS) in the resettlement Passo da Conquista in Erechim (RS).
The unit was built by militants from six states (Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Parana, Minas Gerais, Bahia and Ceara) of the Movement of People Affected by Dams (MAB).
They attended a five day training course aimed to build capacity for the implementation of 200 units in these states.
After the inauguration the activists who helped in the construction of the unit returned to their states with the task of expanding the experience to other regions of Brazil.
This is another achievement of the MAB, the fruit of many struggles and popular organization. For Gabriel Sollero, militant of MAB, this project will bring diferent benefits to the people affected by dams. “It will greatly help farmers because beyond produce healthy food without poison, they may increase the family income” he said “and for the Movement it is a way to strengthen our organization” concluded.
