Today, several mobilizations organized by the Frente Brasil Popular and Frente Povo Sem Medo took place in Brazil against the impeachment of President Dilma. MAB activists sumed at these activities in at least 14 states of the country.
Soon in the morning, even before sunshine, tyres were burning simultaneously in the five regions of Brazil. In the beginning of this Tuesday morning (10), the National Day of Mobilization in Defense of Democracy and Workers Rights, several mobilizations denounced what is considered a coup d’etat, the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff.
The Mobilizations are organized by two fronts, which articulates more than 60 civil society organizations, social movements and trade-unions the Frentes Brasil Popular and Povo Sem Medo. The actions, consisted in marches, blocade of highways, strikes in schools, universities, transport and factories. These unitarian act has the mening to demonstrate the resistance which will occur in a possible government of Michel Temer.
People Affected by Dams participated in at least 14 states in these mobilizations ocurred in Brazil. For one of MAB’s coordinator Liciane Andrioli, the working class needs to demonstrate to the businessmen that they will have economic loss if the impeachment is consummated. “We need to stop the production, roads and cities to show scammers, like the FIESP (federation of industry owners of the State of São Paulo) and all employers’ organizations in Brazil that the resistance will be big if they continue with this coup”.

Espírito Santo
Popular movements have made an act in the center of Vitoria (ES), to denounce the coup against democracy. The activity was marked by strong repression of the military police.
Minas Gerais
Popular movements blocked in the early morning, the highway BR 040, in Congonhas (MG), which connects Belo Horizonte to Rio de Janeiro. BR 251, between the towns of Salinas and Montes Claros, was also paralyzed in the early morning, as well as the BR 166, in the municipality of Manhuaçu.
Rio de Janeiro
In Rio de Janeiro, the Movement of People Affected by Dams participated in the early morning at the activity in the Duque de Caxias oil refinery, along with petrol workers (FUP) and other social movements. The activities followed in the afternoon.
São Paulo
In São Paulo, several roads were blocked early in the morning. One of them, Avenue May 23, which connects the northern and southern areas of the state capital, which was closed for about 40 minutes (from 6:20 a.m. to 7 am).
Paraná
In the southwest of Paraná, about 300 people affected by dams and members of the Forum of Rural and City Entities, occupied the BR 163. The people affected by the dam of Baixo Iguaçu, in conjunction with other organizations, protested against the coup and demanded fair compensation for the price of land and resettlement for families.
Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina
Approximately 200 people affected, along with other popular movements linked to the Frente Brasil Popular, blocked in the early morning the highway BR 153, on the border between Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.

Bahia
In Bahia, members of the Frente Brasil Popular blocked the bridge that connects the cities of Santa Maria da Vitoria and Sao Felix.
Ceará
Around 300 people affected by dams marched blocking the highway CE-060 at Aracoiaba (CE).
Paraíba
In Paraíba, the stoppage was at the BR 230, heading João Pessoa to Campina Grande. The mobilization took place at 7 am in the morning.
Piauí
Early in the morning, MAB blocked the BR 343, which connects the cities of Amarante and Floriano, in Piauí.
Tocantins
Tocantins, people blocked the highway BR Belém Brasília.
Pará
In western Pará, people affected by dams affected by other capital’s projects for the Amazon (hydroelectric, mining, agribusiness), blocked the highway BR 163 (Cuiabá-Santarém), paralyzing the “soybean corridor”.
Rondônia
Activists from Frente Brasil Popular blocked the BR 364, in the Candeias Jamary (RO) to denounce the coup and demand historical demands of those affected by the hydroelectric plant of Samuel.
