While the states were organized at the official space of COP 21, MAB is meeting with several with organizations worldwide to advance proposals to face climate change, since December 6.
At the Workshop Peoples Sovereignty versus the Architecture of Impunity proposed by the Global Campaign Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity (http://www.stopcorporateimpunity.org/), the participants of different countries are alert on what happened on November 5th in Mariana in Brazil. It is one of the largest environmental accidents of recent times, more than 1 million people are affected by the greed of transnational corporations. Therefore, all those present held 1 minute of silence for the people affected.
In sequence, several conflicts arising from the presence of transnational corporations were presented and debated, conflicts as in Colombia with the construction of dams, in Mozambique with violations of labor rights of women, in Indonesia with fracking projects. Stating that discussions on climate change is also a need to think of another model of society, the urgency of building an alternative project to capitalism.
With a purposeful character diverse movements also presented their experiences of resistance and overcoming violations, as the case of MAB with the joint construction with other Brazilian social movements and trade unions, organized in the Labor and Peasant Energy Platform, the Proposal for Energy Souvereinity. The strong presence of women in this space also marked by the assertion of feminist solidarity economy. Setting the tone for the continuity of the week, in four languages ??they stated: WOMEN, WATER and ENERGY are not commodities.
